Amnesty for Internet Gambling Companies? – a report from Gerson Lehrman Group

 

Good news for Internet gambling operators: Nevada approved Caesars Entertainment-888 partnership. So others, like Party Gaming – Bwin, can come back. But Wynn Resorts announced it will work with PokerStars. Sites taking US bets have better name recognition. MGM, Las Vegas Sands Corp., Lakes Entertainment and Penn National Gaming are preoccupied. But Peninsula Gaming, Foxwoods – Goodson Gaming, Cake Poker – Atlantis , and Scientific Games – Playtech (Sciplay) are getting ready to jump in.

Doubts raised over Ladbrokes’ takeover of 888 Holdings – reports Best Bingo Spots

 

888 Holdings caused further concerns by issuing a very unusual announcement, in which some of the agreements made during the takeover of Wink Bingo were released.

In the statement, 888 Holdings said: “Prior to payment of the full earn-out amount … 888 may not declare or pay any dividends or make distributions to shareholders, pay extraordinary management or advisory fees and bonuses, make any material acquisitions or disposals; or take any steps to delist or suspend 888?s shares.”

It added: “If at any time the current chief executive Gigi Levy ceases to be a member of the board of directors of 888, there is a change of control of 888 or 888 materially defaults under the terms of the agreement, the Wink vendors may require 888 to initiate a sale of Wink to facilitate repayment of the outstanding debt.”

World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational

One of the coolest events of the year takes place every February at the L.A. Poker Classic — the WPT Celebrity Invitational. It isn’t the typical WPT event that boasts only top tier fields with the best in the game. Instead, we find tables full of celebrities, athletes, well-known players and some members of the industry who get their one chance per year to leave their mark on the felt. Tons of fun is had in this quick-structured event, but the most important part is that $100,000 was donated to charity.

Manchester United to Win Premier League

It’s that time of year again when the battle for the English Premier League is heating right up and the battle for the title is well under way. With Manchester United sitting pretty at the top of the table, four points ahead of Arsenal and with a game in hand over Man City and Spurs, they look good to hang on but four points is absolutely nothing in footballing terms and a couple of bad games could spell disaster for them.
