I recently visited the town of Fort Collins, Colorado for a charity event benefiting Realities for Children, an organization that helps raise money for abused children in the area. There were some statistics that were thrown around that weekend that were alarming and disturbing to say the least.
For example, every day 5 children in America die from child abuse, 4 of these children are under the age of 5. Last year, the state of Colorado was ranked the third highest in the country for child abuse deaths per capita. The fact of the matter is, child abuse is very prevalent throughout the country and it should be an issue that affects us all. This past weekend really helped to raise my awareness about this issue and I have become even more determined than I already was to help spread awareness about child abuse and want to champion this cause and take it up more as my own in the future.
I hope you guys can check out and , and find out more information and ways you can get involved and help. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month so please join in wearing the blue ribbon and keep this cause in the forefront of your mind.
Much love.
