Britain’s Tom Middleton heads $2,500 NL Hold’em

Kate may be the most famous Middleton around but the poker world could be lauding the efforts of another bearing that surname as Tom Middleton goes for WSOP glory.

The young Brit is in pole position to make it UK bracelet number four at this year’s World Series holding the chip lead in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event with just five players remaining.Roared on by a raucous rail (so vociferous in fact that it prompted this tweet from Daniel Negreanu, “Watching Eddy’s FT and I’ve never seen anything like it. The young Brits are VERY drunk and VERY loud chanting at all times Even during hands”) Middleton was all in at one point with A9 against AQ but spiked a nine to stay alive. He didn’t look back from there and took a hefty lead after winning a 4m plus pot on the last hand of the day.The chip counts are as follows:1 Thomas Middleton 4,030,000 2 Mikhail Lakhitov 2,705,000 3 Hassan Babajane 2,365,000 4 Eddy Sabat 2,030,000 5 Thomas Miller 1,885,000 TAGS: WSOP 2011, $2, 500 No Limit Hold’em, Tom Middleton
