The news appears to be out that Doyle Brunson is ending his association with his own poker room, Doylesroom. The news first came out from Gambling 911, a site that isparing the move to being like Ronald McDonald leaving McDonalds. Umm, okay, Gambling 911, Im sure Doyle is thrill with theparison. It seems other poker blogs have picked up the news and run with it.
The statement that Gambling 911 is reporting from Doyle Brunson is that he wants to withdraw from the online poker world and perhaps reenter if the United States has legal online poker. Hes also reported as stating that he has asked the folks at Doylesroom not to market using his name and likeness.
And the next day, Doyle Brunson was playing at the World Poker Tour Championship wearing his Doyles Room gear and logos. His name and likeness are still on DoylesRoom. He himself hasnt written about leaving on his Doyle Brunson blog. The only sign of a potential Doyle Brunson withdraw I can find is that the Doyles Bounty Tournament where players are invited to join TexDolly and a special guest has been postponed.
So, whats going on? Well, there is some speculation that even if Doyle wants to leave the online poker room, he may be under contract that prevents him from pulling out of the site at the drop of a cowboy hat. It may also be possible that the team of at DoylesRoom is trying to reassure any legal concerns Doyle Brunson might have over being involved with the site. Its not like the 77 year old poker player has suddenly decided he doesnt like poker.
