The WSOP November Nine

Theyre set and ready to go! The WSOP November Nine final table has been determined.  Now, if youve never watched the World Series of Poker before, let me explain how this works. The WSOP takes place in Las Vegas and takes up a good chunk of the summer, but not every player is there through the entire series of tournaments.  Though those who really want to win that coveted WSOP bracelet are likely to hang out as long as it takes.  But the big action starts with the Main Event.  Any player with the money can register for the Main Event which fills several poker tables and more than one day of play.

News in brief: Six new co-sponsors for Barton bill; French sports betting down one third

Six more co-sponsors have been named for Joe Barton’s HR2366 online poker bill. One, Nevada representative Joe Heck, is a Republican with the other five Democrats. The other new co-sponsors are Eliot Engel and Steve Israel (both New York), Bob Filner and Lynn Woolsey (both California), and Mike Capuano (Massachusetts). Three co-sponsors for the bill had been announced on 12 July, although one of the existing co-sponsors, Ron Paul, is set to retire from Congress in 2012.

The amount bet on sports in France has dropped by more than one third in the last six months, according to an annual review from the country’s regulatory authority ARJEL. €74

Man City FC Match Odds

Founded in 1880 by St Marks Church, the club was renamed Ardwick AFC when it later moved to Hyde Road to reflect its new location. A founding member of the Football League in 1892, it was reformed as Manchester City FC after experiencing financial difficulties in the 1893/94 season.

The Blues won their first FA Cup in 1904 and in 2011 after a 35 year wait delighted their fans with a victory over Stoke City, to claim it again.

In 1920 a fire destroyed the Main Stand at Hyde Rd and the club moved to Maine Road in Moss Side, where they played until they moved to the City of Manchester Stadium in 2003.

2011 WSOP Main Event: 22 players through to Day 8!

After a very long, intensive and exciting day of play we’re now down to only 22 players. These 22 players will now get some well-needed rest before they have to return to Rio’s poker room and play Day 8 of the Main Event. All the remaining players are guaranteed at least $302,0000 each. 

Just like in the past 7 days, a new player will return with the largest stack to Day 8, Anton Makievskyi. Makievskyi played fantastic poker during Day 7 and managed to accumulate a stack of over 21 million chips. His closest opponent, Eoghan O’Dea, has 19 million chips.

Serial FTSE 100 board member and former group chief executive of Alliance Boots Andy Hornby is to be appointed MD of Coral can exclusively reveal, ending the operator’s year-long search for a suitable candidate to lead the UK brand.

The £1m-plus earning big hitter, who has led organisations such as Asda, joining the board aged just 32, Halifax, HBOS and lastly group CEO of Alliance Boots, a £23bn revenue making international business with 115,000 staff, will join Coral a year after its previous CEO, Nick Rust, left to join rival Ladbrokes.

Sajjhaa Targets Windsor Forest Stakes

Godolphins Sajjhaa delighted connections with a fine run at York last week when finishing a highly creditable runner-up to the outstanding mare Midday in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes and could next be seen at Royal Ascot in June where she has a number of entries at the five-day showcase fixture, writes Elliot Slater.

Trained until the start of this term by the now retired Michael Jarvis, the daughter of Kings Best ran above most expectations on the Knavesmire, leading until the furlong pole under Frankie Dettori before Midday came by to score by two-lengths.
