Phil Hellmuth eliminated in 2nd place for $1,063,034

What a comeback by Brian Rast! He was down to about 2 million and almost out of the tournament a while ago. Now, about 10-15 minutes later, he’s the champion and $1,720,328 richer! This was his second bracelet at the 2011 WSOP! Very impressive!

This is how the last 2 hands were played out.

Hand #216Brian Rast had the button and raised to 240k. Phil Hellmuth called. The flop fell Q78, and Hellmuth bet 300k. Rast called. The turn was the 4, Hellmuth checked, and Rast checked as well. The river was the 4 and Hellmuth betted 300k. Rast folds, and Hellmuth won the pot.

Hand #217

Phil Hellmuth had the button and raised to 400k.

Aston Villa Match Odds

Aston Villa was founded in 1874 by a group of cricketers who needed a game to occupy them during the winter. Aston Villa, nickname the Villans, soon became the Midlands dominant team and was one of the founder members of the Football League. In 1897 Villa won the League and Cup double and shortly after moved to Aston Lower Grounds which the fans named Villa Park.

In all they have won 7 First Division Championships and 7 FA Cups. Despite their early successes, by 1937 Villa were relegated and although the team was rebuilt after the Second World War their only achievement during this period was an F.A.

A look back at Day 34 of the 2011 WSOP: Stimulus Special. Ladies and $50k Championship

With only three tournaments in action you would have expected the WSOP to have had a fairly low-key day on Sunday, but with a man at the final table of the Ladies Championship, the second largest preliminary event field in the history of the WSOP, and the $50k Players Championship making up those three tournaments there was plenty of excitement at the Rio on the 4th of July weekend.

Event #53: $1,000 No Limit Holdem Ladies Championship, Day 3

Well Jonathan Epstein has the dubious distinction of being the only man to make the WSOP Ladies Championship final table -maybe put him alongside Marsha Waggoner in the record books???-but thats where his run ended as he was eliminated by eventual champion Marsha Wolak in 9th place to the applause of the other players, the rail, and tournament officials.

1.       Marsha Wolak – $192,344

2.       Karina Jett – $119,010

3.       Carol Tomlinson – $74,459

4.       Valerie McColligan – $54,045

Event #54: $1,000 No Limit Holdem, Day 1b

After a typical Day 1a turnout nobody was expecting what happened on Sunday when 2,644 players registered for the tournament making this the second largest $1k NLHE tournament in WSOP history -trailing only the initial Stimulus Special tournament back in 2009.

Here is a look at the top 10 chip counts from the two Day 1 flights:

9.       Alberto Musini – 62,600

Event #55: $50,000 Players Championship, Day 2

The Players Championship plays like a very deep cash game over the first two days of the tournament, evidenced by the 74 remaining players from an original starting field of 128 -only FIVE players were eliminated on Day 1 of the tournament!

Heading the field at this point is the current 2011 WSOP Player of the Year leader Ben Lamb, who is looking to cement his place as one of the best tournament poker players in the world with his 2011 WSOP run, which already includes a first and second place finish.

Affiliates respond to Full Tilt shutdown

European-based affiliates have made security and communication their key priorities following suspension of Full Tilt’s Alderney and France licences in the last week.

Some have begun advising their players to place their trust in sites licensed in Europe alone, while others believe more needs to be done than simply moving on from the latest setback to hit the industry.

Karim Wilkins (pictured), CEO of RaketheRake.com, has called for the egaming industry to employ margin calls like in the banking industry, saying such a development would be “a massive jump” for online poker.

Blackburn Rovers Match Odds

Established in 1875 Blackburn Rovers were one of the founder members of the Football League. They enjoyed considerable success in the early years and between 1884-1891 won the FA Cup five times. In 1890 Ewood Park became their permanent ground when it was bought for £1,000. Further success followed and in the 1911-12 season they gained their first League Championship.

After this initial success, the 1930-1950s was a period when the club suffered very mixed fortunes, resulting in a number of relegations and they spent their time split between the second and third divisions.

Another year, another WSOP Ladies Tournament

Lets hear it for the ladies! All right, full disclosure for anyone new to the blog I am a female poker player.  So in stories like this, Im going to side with the gals.  Well, to a certain extent.  Lets revisit last years WSOP ladies tournament for a moment. The big news last year was that Shaun Deeb, who is not a gal, showed up to play in the tournament dressed as one (and Im not giving up using that photo). Last year Shaun was joined by other male players, some who entered the Ladies event after losing in a private game in the rooms.  There was much outcry over the issue and some of the guys tried to insist it was a protest over the ladies having their own event.  Umm, yeah, one event out of 50 something at the World Series of Poker.  And no, there isnt a mens only event. But t
